Bhagavad Gita in Daily Life

The application of Bhagavad Gita in daily life is not difficult. It has only one prerequisite… become truthful as Americans are. Even though most Americans had no knowledge of Bhagavad Gita or ever heard about it… they seem to practice Bhagavad Gita in daily life as if they were trained for it. Americans usually live life on a daily basis. They live as if it was their first and last day. They enjoyed every moment of life. For them… life truly had no limitations. They were born in morning and died in evening.

Living life on day-to-day basis has its advantages. One comes to understand inherent values of life. We become part of community and community becomes part of us. We lived a whole life full of gaiety and laughter. Followers of Bhagavad Gita never had any regrets. For them… entire community belonged to God. If they worked for welfare of community… it was on behalf of God Almighty. They were rather serving God Almighty when helping their community. Lucky are people who get an opportunity to serve mankind at its level best.

People who ran after Bhagavad Gita thinking it was a literal document were absolutely wrong. Attending spiritual discourses relating to Bhagavad Gita never meant anything unless we learnt to contemplate on hidden ingredients of spiritual life… spiritual terminology! Spiritual life can only be lived by living physical manifest life to fullest. Caring only for self and hating others… how could one be spiritual? In India… most who traveled path of spirituality never came to understood anything about spiritual journey. Why?

Just by following so-called spiritual masters does not mean covering spiritual journey in right earnestness! Spiritual journey can be truly traveled when we had a spiritual master (a spiritual guru) who reached stage of enlightenment in ones lifetime like Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana… those who could clarify inner meanings of spiritual terminology. Unless queries within us dissolved forever… our spiritual journey truly was meaningless! Every spiritual discourse… every spiritual meeting must satisfy us internally.

Every Satsanga (spiritual discourse) must always be an open question and answer session… wherein every single human being must be free to express ones feelings and clarify any matter… seek answer to any query whatsoever! Unless we were totally truthful in life… spirituality truly could not be lived. Most so-called spiritual masters in present times were pure religious preachers who had no inkling what spirituality really was all about. Could such religious teachers give anything to mankind in terms of spirituality?

Dispensing half baked religious theories to gullible mankind has become order of day. Blindfolded most human beings followed such preachers without thinking twice of consequences. I happened to attend some religious gatherings to forward some queries to these so-called spiritual masters. Sensing I may cause trouble for so-called spiritual mentors… their followers made it a point that my queries did not reach one. They forbid me to ask a query citing shortage of time. Every serious seeker of spirituality must always follow inner voice that seems to come from within our heart.

If we desire reaching God in present life… if we were serious and truthful… we would definitely reach God one day. Our faith in God Almighty must always be hundred percent. A dwindling faith never achieved anything. To enact good karma… positive karma was our prerogative. By following path of absolute truthfulness… by indulging in good karma, positive karma all the time… having total faith in God Almighty… any human being world over could easily reach God. Reaching God in present Kali Yuga, materialistic age was difficult… but not impossible!

Those who cited instances from scriptures that God Almighty could never be reached in Kali Yuga were ignorants of religious path… who had nothing in common with spirituality! For serious seekers of spirituality… such followers of religious path never meant anything. They were all the time available in hordes. Such people believed more in rituals than path of jnana yoga (path of absolute wisdom) as it was beyond them to contemplate on matters spiritual! Path of spirituality always demanded absolute perfection… something uncommon to practitioners of religious path.

Spirituality is attending Satsanga (spiritual gathering) for 10% of time… rest 90% spent in contemplation! Unless we learnt to contemplate… we could never achieve anything on spiritual path. Path of jnana yoga (path of absolute wisdom) meant contemplating on God Almighty all the time. It is through path of self enquiry… path of Neti (not this, not this) as preached and advocated by Maharishi Ramana… human beings finally succeeded in traveling spiritual path sincerely and diligently and finally reaching God Almighty in their lifetime.

As everything related to spirituality was available in sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism… for reaching God; contemplating on wisdom contained in sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism was an absolute must. We must try to follow path of life as lived by Americans. We must learn to love human beings… the community where we lived. In loving people… we were loving children of God Almighty. In serving humanity… we were truly serving God Almighty.

If there was a single word I could express for Americans… it was simply… wow!
