बुद्धिर्ज्ञानमसंमोहः क्षमा सत्यं दमः शमः ।
सुखं दुःखं भवोऽभावो भयं चाभयमेव च ॥१०-४॥
अहिंसा समता तुष्टिस्तपो दानं यशोऽयशः ।
भवन्ति भावा भूतानां मत्त एव पृथग्विधाः ॥१०-५॥
Transliteration:
In Bhagavad Gita chapter 10 verse 4 – 5 Lord Krishna eulogizes various aspects of God Almighty (termed Brahman in Hinduism)… the one and only one! Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that whatever exists in entire cosmos results from manifestation of primordial cosmic energy… we called God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism). Those who did not believe in existence of God Almighty… could never visualize cosmic happenings as they truly exist.
To perceive things cosmic… we had to use our inner vision, never the sense controlled eyes!
The origination of buddhi (intellect), the inherent intelligence of a human being; jnana (wisdom) contained in cosmos; power of discrimination to distinguish right from wrong; power of forgiveness (Kshama in Hinduism); power of truthfulness; power to establish control over five senses and mind; power over dual aspects of life… happiness and sufferings; the origination and surmise (death) and fear and fearlessness… all originated from God Almighty!
As per Lord Krishna… ahimsa (nonviolence); power to practice equality (samata in Hinduism); power of contentment (Santhosh in Hinduism); power of tapas (meaning austerities, mortification)… power to burn from within; indulging in daan (charity); gratification of self and disrepute… the act of public fame, glory and disrespect… all resulted from God Almighty himself. It was not within power of human beings to manifest subtle cosmic energy of its own.
In a nutshell… it simply means that God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism) was the doer of all things cosmic. The doership in any action could never be attributed to something that was mortal. Our consciousness within… our soul atman, the spirit within was the absolute master and controller of human body at each and every stage of life. Life in human form was just a temporary phase in the life of a soul atman, the spirit within!
Until a soul atman, the spirit within reached last leg of cosmic life, 8.4 millionth manifestation… it continues prompting from within to reach cosmic end of life at the earliest. Every soul atman, though inherent all the time… prompts physical manifest human form through a chain of dreams that all human beings complete their cosmic journey at the earliest. Interpreting dreams is up to an individual. Whether we want to travel spiritual path now or leave it for future manifestations is our sole individual prerogative.
The Explanation:
In Bhagavad Gita chapter 10 verse 4 – 5 Lord Krishna clarified factors explaining fundamental issues of life. If human beings think they could ever discover or invent anything in this world… it was an absolute misnomer! Every single fundamental principle of life exists in cosmos from times immemorial. Human beings only unveiled it at the opportune moment… never before! People keep waiting for 10th incarnation of Vishnu to manifest on mother earth. All await advent of Kalki Avatar to annihilate dark forces of nature in present Kali Yuga… Dark Age, metal age!
But the advent of Kalki Avatar is not happening. Why? In the cosmic system, everything precipitates only at the right moment, never before! As says Lord Krishna, power of Sudarshan Chakra could only be exercised when pot of sins is full to the brim. Nothing could change this fundamental principle of life… not even Lord Krishna! The advent of Avatar as per Hinduism scriptures (the sacred Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism) could not be preponed or postponed even if entire humanity desired so. Cosmic events happened only at the right opportune moment! Only when strife, tribulation peaked, advent of an avatar in Hinduism became a reality!
Lord Krishna emphasizes to Arjuna that intellect (buddhi) played a vital role in all earthly affairs of life. Yet, the faculty of buddhi (intellect) was ingrained into human beings by grace of God Almighty. If exercising intellect (buddhi in Hinduism) human beings reached a particular decision… all owed its existence to grace of God Almighty! In absence of God almighty… human form carried no meaning! It was an absolute fact of life that form of human beings was but an instrument in hands of God Almighty. Yet, we were ordained by God Almighty with a free will… power of discrimination exercising which we could reach any goal of life.
As per Lord Krishna, for each and every act of human beings we must always feel grateful to God Almighty! Dominated by a bloated ego… when human beings considered self as originator of things… they were only acting ignorant in matters spiritual! Our travelling path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom)… nishkama karma yoga was ordained by God Almighty from beginning of life. By exercising power of discrimination if human beings preferred path of spirituality over path of religion… it was only being intelligent in the cosmic crux of life! Remaining ignorant, travelling path of religion (rituals) human beings never gained anything in life.
The power to forgive rests with human beings. But who gave human beings power of forgiveness? Mounted with free will and exercising power of discrimination when human beings forgave one… it was travelling path of pure spirituality as ordained by God Almighty! Travelling path of truthfulness is, wanting to reach God Almighty in present life. Power of truth all the time rested with God Almighty in totality. Those who were all the time truthful in life reached God in their lifetime. None could stop such seekers of spirituality in reaching God in their lifetime.
None could understand power of truth better than me. Why? Since six years of age I committed myself to walking path of absolute truthfulness always and ever. By 13 years of age my resolve to see and meet God in this very life became absolute. 25 years of yoga meditation… I finally landed self in domain of God Almighty when in the wee hours of third of August 1993 I finally realized god, realized self! This is my last manifestation on mother earth… 8.4 millionth manifestation! Having reached end of cosmic life, nowhere else to go further… I shall but attain salvation moksha, moment I leave my mortal frame!
It was power of truth but only truth that carried me all along! Nothing was more vital than power of truth on path of pure spirituality. For establishing absolute control over five senses and mind, it was power of truth that helped me all along. By hearing sweet small inner voice of my soul atman all the time, I could follow dictates of my soul atman all the time! One can hear sweet small inner voice of our soul atman only by remaining truthful in life all the time. It is our soul atman, the spirit within that all the time desired regaining its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form at the earliest. By assisting our soul atman in gaining absolute purity… we were only helping our true inner self that existed within our heart!
Control over five senses and mind can only be exercised by grace of God Almighty. Exercising control over five senses in totality is a very difficult task yet, not impossible! The moment control over five senses gets established… control over mind power followed automatically!
Furthermore, for a serious seeker of spirituality… Sukkha (happiness) and dukkha (sufferings) always meant the same. Only in our sufferings lay hidden ingredients of happiness… success! If there was only happiness in cosmic system… how would human beings understand what happiness was all about? It is only in our sufferings… we realized importance of happiness! Both happiness and sufferings are two sides of the same coin. If we suffered in life, happiness was not far away! By invoking positive thoughts, godly thoughts all the time… we not only expedited our spiritual journey but also reduced sufferings in our life.
Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that a serious seeker of spirituality finally succeeds in overcoming fear of death forever. One that is born shall always die. Both birth and death were part of cosmic system. In absence of one… the other could not subsist! In cosmic domain… death carried no meaning. For a soul atman death of human form was as simple as changing of guards at Buckingham Palace. When the old coat gets torn and worn… a soul atman desires getting a new coat… a new body! Based on residual balance of karma at the time of death of body… a soul atman, the spirit within manifested a new life form!
Human beings worrying over death carried no meaning in spiritual world! After death of present body… our soul atman, the consciousness within manifested a new body based on residual balance of karma of that moment. The closing balance of life becomes opening balance for next manifestation. As per Lord Krishna… the present journey of life belonged to our soul atman, the spirit within! After death of someone, it was not for human beings to weep over death! As no soul atman ever dies and was indestructible… the cycle of life for a soul atman continued unbroken, uninterrupted! To realize hidden subtle facts of life, Lord Krishna gave sermon of Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna! Slowly but steadily Arjuna realized cosmic truths of life.
As per Lord Krishna… a serious seeker of spirituality must always indulge in ahimsa (nonviolence). As a human being we had no right to kill one of lower species. By killing living beings of lower order, we were only increasing klesha (dross impurities within our soul atman). As a spiritual being we must always indulge in positive karma, good karma to reach God at the earliest! To reach God… maintaining equanimity was an absolute must. For a true seeker of God… all beings were equal! As a human being, the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle… it was our ordained duty to respect lower forms of living beings.
Only by exercising power of forgiveness… human beings finally experienced extreme contentment at each and every stage of spiritual life! Lord Krishna further says that to remove klesha (inherent dross impurities within our soul atman)… our indulgence in various austerities in spiritual life was necessitated. It was only through path of austerities… one finally succeeds in establishing absolute control over five senses and mind! During Vedic times… indulgence in Daan (charity) was part of spiritual life. But in present scientific age, indulgence in Daan (charity) was not necessitated. A serious seeker of spirituality all the time worked for welfare of mankind!
While travelling spiritual path if human beings experienced fame and glory… all owed its existence to grace of God Almighty! When we catered to interest of entire mankind… we were bound to experience bouts of fame and glory intermittently. However when we encountered disrespect, disrepute at the hands of commoners, masses who failed to travel spiritual path… serious seekers of spirituality always maintained equanimity in such stages of life. A single bout of anger could destroy our years of practice of absolute celibacy. This happened in the case of accomplished Sage Vishwamitra.
On sighting a maiden woman taking bath in forlorn circumstances in deep dense jungles (forests)… he fell from grace! He had to repeat practice of absolute celibacy (Brahmacharya Vrata) all over again. If we succeed in all travails of spiritual life… it was only due to grace of God Almighty. At no stage of life human beings were governing. In fact, it was our soul atman… the consciousness within that was all the time master and controller of life on mother earth. Our soul atman, the spirit within manifested human form to work out its karma… remove dross impurities within! It is not within the capability of human form to manifest a soul atman.
