Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 Verse 1

मदनुग्रहाय परमं गुह्यमध्यात्मसंज्ञितम् ।
यत्त्वयोक्तं वचस्तेन मोहोऽयं विगतो मम ॥११-१॥

Transliteration:

After hearing sermon from Lord Krishna, king Arjuna states thus… out of compassion and love for me… the extremely confidential dictate (that which is hidden from normal intellect) relating to spirituality given by you has awakened me from within. It has successfully dispelled the darkness within me. I have become a jnani… knower of all!

The Explanation:

Everything written in spiritual books is an allegory and actual hidden meaning of spiritual texts can only be understood by traveling path of jnana yoga (path of absolute wisdom)!

King Arjuna explicitly states that he was a chosen student, the favorite pupil of Lord Krishna… the only one competent to infer what Lord Krishna actually said or meant to say! None other than King Arjuna was competent on mother earth to understand teachings of Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita. This deduction by King Arjuna simply means… the moment spiritual seeker reached a particularly level of spirituality… one came to know where one had reached.

Unwittingly King Arjuna realized that he was able to understand everything what Lord Krishna had to say. This resulted because King Arjuna had absolute faith, hundred percent faith in teachings of Lord Krishna. The teacher always knows intelligence of the student but for a student to realize self worth is very difficult, more so on spiritual path! The deduction by King Arjuna that it was only because of grace of Lord Krishna, he was able to understand sermon by Lord Krishna explicitly displays humility on part of King Arjuna towards Lord Krishna.

This also makes clear that unless a spiritual seeker was humble on his part… one could never earn grace of spiritual master. In present times I receive so many queries from people world over who displayed arrogance of the highest order. Unable to understand spiritual truths, they ended blaming those who already reached stage of enlightenment, self realization… god realization!

Can such human beings, can such travellers of spirituality ever gain anything in life. For a cat that could not get grapes, the grapes were sour at the end of the road. Why blame others for our follies, for our inconsistencies… for our faults! On path of pure spirituality only absolute faith amongst each other worked. Unless we had absolute faith in our spiritual preceptor as did King Arjuna… none could gain anything in spiritual world.

Further King Arjuna thanks Lord Krishna for imparting him… those hidden pearls of jnana wisdom… knowing which his ignorance in matters spiritual dissolved forever. Even though original gist of Bhagavad Gita is available with Gita press, Gorakhpur, India for a nominal price of $.60 (Rs. 30/=) still, people failed to understand the hidden underlying meaning of Bhagavad Gita. Why?

This resulted from our failure in having absolute faith in our spiritual mentor, spiritual master… preceptor! In this verse 11.1 of Bhagavad Gita, value of absolute faith in our spiritual guide is explicitly made clear. Most travellers of spirituality always carried many doubts in their subconscious. Unless we expressed full faith in the preceptor… how would one know our weaknesses… our shortcomings! We could not remove our weaknesses, shortcomings of our own; it was only our spiritual master who could help us in the matter.

Journey of spirituality is one-sided. Whenever in doubt… we had to openly express everything to spiritual master! Only then one could understand our predicament… solve our problem!

Lord Krishna disclosing to King Arjuna… vital essence of Bhagavad Gita exhibits level of faith Lord Krishna, the preceptor had in King Arjuna. This feeling of absolute faith is never one-sided. Both pupil and the teacher must have equivalent faith in each other before one could understand what other was saying. King Arjuna understood what Krishna was saying as he had absolute faith in Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna also understood that he could totally faith in capability of King Arjuna to understand what he said.

The essence of Bhagavad Gita, the sermon of Bhagavad Gita could not be imparted to one who had no faith in spirituality. Why did Lord Krishna side with Pandavas… not Kauravas! It was for the only reason that all Pandavas had absolute faith in Lord Krishna. Kaurava King Duryodhana did not believe in Lord Krishna. He was against policies of Lord Krishna from the beginning. Those with evil intentions, how could one believe Lord Krishna, an apostle of truth but only truth! At every stage of life Kaurava King Duryodhana disbelieved in teachings of Lord Krishna.

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 verse 1 also makes it clear that God Almighty could only be reached via path of spirituality… never religion, path of rituals! Adhyatma of Hinduism directly relates to spirituality… never religion, path of rituals! Whatever was contained in spirituality was inherent, hidden and could only be realized by traveling spiritual path, path of unknown! King Arjuna telling Lord Krishna that his sermon of Bhagavad Gita resulted in removal of his ignorance in matters spiritual indicates King Arjuna traveling path of spirituality as was ordained by God Almighty.

Many human beings world over traveled spiritual path, undertook spiritual journey but only some, very few finally succeeded in understanding intricacies of spiritual life. King Arjuna was amongst those selected few who finally understood sermon of Bhagavad Gita given by Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata. This sermon of Bhagavad Gita finally resulted in removal of ignorance and King Arjuna reaching stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) forever. Shloka 11.1 of Bhagavad Gita finally confirms removal of ignorance forever by traveling path of spirituality… not religion!

Those who followed path of religion, path of rituals in present life must become aware that God Almighty could never be reached via path of religion undertaken by them. Going to temples, churches and mosques were rituals that carried no meaning in spiritual world.
