Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 Verse 18

विद्याविनयसंपन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि ।
शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः ॥५-१८॥

Transliteration:

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that seekers of spirituality who after establishing absolute control over five senses and mind via path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom)… finally established self, identified self with God Almighty were true Jnana Yogis who finally realized oneness with all living beings.

Such knower of God Almighty identified their soul atman, the spirit within with souls’ atmans of all other living beings, be they learned and humble Brahmins, even a cow or an elephant or one belonging to lower caste… a Chandala! One who saw same spirit in all living beings was a true man of wisdom.

The Explanation:

When a learned human being, a pundit… erudite saw God in all living beings, one has supposedly reached God in one’s lifetime! Realizing oneness of spirit is what spirituality all about! As detailed in sermon of Bhagavad Gita by Lord Krishna, a true scholar of spirituality having reached ones true inner self saw the same God in a humble and knowledgeable Brahmin, even a cow and a dog. A true seeker of God could never discriminate between self and a Chandala, one belonging to a lower caste… an outcast!

For one who realized God forever… all living forms were different paths to God Almighty! Some at higher level and others at lower… all would reach God in present or future manifestations! Based on our outer covering, the present manifest physical form we could never distinguish one from another. So was prohibited by God Almighty. Only a true believer of God saw the hidden oneness in all living beings including human beings. It is an absolute fact of life that soul atman within every living form was of the same essence.

As detailed in Bhagavad Gita… every soul atman in its entire life cycle manifested a maximum of 8.4 million bodies to reach stage of absolute purity! The journey of a soul atman starts when it manifests form of an amoeba (single cell formation) for the first time. It further evolves into multi-cell formation… then insect life, plant life, animal life and finally form of human beings! Human form is the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle. It is only in human form a soul atman finally reached its end goal of life when human beings gained enlightenment forever!

Born a human being… we must always do the bidding of our soul atman, the spirit within! Why? As per Lord Krishna… it is our soul atman, the spirit within that manifested human form to work out its karma… remove dross impurities within! Our soul atman, the spirit within was the absolute master and controller of human life and not vice versa. It is not within the powers of a human form to manifest a soul atman! Mounted with power of truth when human beings travelled path of pure spirituality, they succeeded in crossing all hurdles of ephemeral life… finally reaching stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and then salvation moksha forever.

Through Bhagavad Gita chapter 5 verse 18 Lord Krishna eulogizes merits of travelling spiritual path to reach logical cosmic end of life… 8.4 millionth manifestation, when human beings saw the sublime unity amongst all living beings! Truly every soul atman, the consciousness within every living form was God Almighty in miniscule form existing within all! When human beings travelled path of absolute truthfulness… one could hear the sweet small inner voice of our soul atman that always led human beings to God Almighty! For an enlightened one… all human forms were different paths to reach God Almighty… nothing more!
