Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 Verse 26

कामक्रोधवियुक्तानां यतीनां यतचेतसाम् ।
अभितो ब्रह्मनिर्वाणं वर्तते विदितात्मनाम् ॥५-२६॥

Transliteration:

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna: human beings who succeed in establishing absolute control over sense objects Kama (feelings of desire) and Krodha (feelings of excessive anger)… by travelling path of absolute truthfulness, those who took absolute control of subconscious within… one who could commune with God Almighty on one-to-one basis all the time… such travelers of spiritual path saw God in all elements of life.

One who by travelling path of jnana yoga (Sankhya yoga… absolute wisdom), nishkama karma yoga finally reached God in one’s lifetime finally understood sublime truth of spiritual life. God Almighty never laid elsewhere. God Almighty always existed within us, existed within all living beings in miniscule form as our soul atman, the consciousness within! All along we searched for God Almighty elsewhere whereas he all the time existed in our heart.

The Explanation:

Most human beings world over searched for God Almighty in various sacred scriptures of different religions of world. But none could ever guess where God Almighty was to be found! Literally people understood that god exists in our heart, but to reach it sincerely and diligently… none made any distinctive effort. After realizing essence of different scriptures of Hinduism, one came to firm conclusions that seat of God Almighty was our heart… yet, efforts required to reach him were not to be seen anywhere!

When young, Swami Vivekananda wanted to know who was God, there was God! He wanted to confirm the presence of God on mother earth. He wanted to know… whether God truly existed or not! In his search for God he finally reached Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, his spiritual master and benefactor. Finally when Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa put his leg on shoulder of Swami Vivekananda… he saw it all! As long as Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa put his leg on shoulder of Swami Vivekananda… he continued seeing world of God Almighty with his inner eyes!

Those who doubt domain of God Almighty never reached God. For reaching God hundred percent faith in God Almighty was necessitated. This was the primary requisite of spiritual journey! Unless we believed in God, unless we had hundred percent faith in his existence… we could not reach God in present life! Other primary requisite for reaching God in present life was path of absolute truthfulness. We had to be truthful every second of life if we were ever to reach God! Those devoid of absolute faith or truthfulness just passed their life on mother earth.

One could never successfully travel path of jnana yoga (path of absolute wisdom) if we were not truthful in life. By remaining truthful in life… we kept our Chitta (subtle consciousness) free of ambiguity and inner tribulations. Overpowering Kama and Krodha were not that easy. We can do it only if we have the requisite patience exhibited by Swami Vivekananda. Sensuality played a pivotal role in full awakening of Kundalini Shakti. Unless we learnt to transmute sexual energy… how could we reach higher levels of spirituality! It was only by practice of celibacy (physical aspect of celibacy… Brahmacharya Vrata) human beings finally overpowered kama.

Before one totally conquered Krodha (anger)… one had to be adept in the art of forgiveness, compassion! Unless we learnt to forgive one and all… we could never suppress anger in totality! Angering never led one towards God Almighty… rather the opposite was truth! By forgiving one and all… we destroyed anger within us forever. Control over anger was an absolute must if we were ever to awaken our kundalini fully. Full awakening of kundalini becomes possible by travelling path of celibacy and absolute truthfulness! Easier said than done, practice of absolute celibacy requires practice of Brahmacharya Vrata for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation! Only then we could expect to reach stage of an enlightened one… a bodhi, a Jina!

As per Lord Krishna… one who succeeds in establishing absolute control over Kama and Krodha, travelling path of absolute truthfulness one who succeeds in maintaining inner calm, such a traveler of path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) finally reached God in one’s lifetime. Reaching stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (absolute nothingness), an enlightened one can have communion with God Almighty every second of life on one-to-one basis! It is at this stage one finally realizes that God Almighty truly existed in all living beings in their heart as their soul atman, the spirit within! In every form of life including insects, plants and animals… did God Almighty exist! For an enlightened one… even to pluck a branch of a tree is like torturing a lower form of life!

An enlightened one even found it difficult to step on an ant, what to say of killing animals! No enlightened being could ever consume meat. All enlightened ones preferred remaining strict vegetarians provided circumstances permitted it! Gautama Buddha, Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa consumed meat… as it was customary in their times! But if one could avoid… no enlightened one would ever consume meat fondly. If the meat came from a source, where no sin was committed, one was free to consume meat! If the meat came from a source where it bode ill will for younger dependent animals, then consuming that meat was forbidden on spiritual path!

The moment a traveler of spiritual path reached stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)… one found that other than God Almighty nothing exists in cosmos! As per Advaita Vedanta doctrine of Hinduism propagated by Adi Shankaracharya… God Almighty (termed Brahman in Hinduism) was the only truth of life. At the time of big bang when God Almighty (Brahman in Hinduism) exploded self… all souls’ atmans were pure. God Almighty… the size of half a thumb is that singularity in the beginning of cosmos, explosion of which resulted in big bang. When big bang was about to occur… only God Almighty existed in entire cosmos! No sooner big bang occurred… all pure souls’ atmans scattered all over cosmos at unimaginable speeds.

This confirms the saying that God is everywhere! The hurtling souls’ atmans in their cosmic sojourn gathered impurities, similar as a rolling ball gathers moss! To cleanse self of dross impurities within starts cosmic life cycle of every soul atman. No sooner life supporting planets like mother earth evolved in cosmic system… souls’ atmans immediately started manifesting life. Every soul atman initially manifests form of an amoeba (single cell formation), then evolves into multi-cell formation, insect life, plant life, animal life and finally form of human beings! Human form being the highest manifest stage in cosmic life cycle… it was only in human form our soul atman, the spirit within finally liberated self from cycle of birth and death forever when human beings gained enlightenment and finally salvation moksha by travelling spiritual path.

Truly, Brahman was everywhere but human beings realized this fact only when they reached stage of enlightenment by undertaking spiritual journey sincerely and diligently!
