Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 Verse 20

न प्रहृष्येत्प्रियं प्राप्य नोद्विजेत्प्राप्य चाप्रियम् ।
स्थिरबुद्धिरसंमूढो ब्रह्मविद्ब्रह्मणि स्थितः ॥५-२०॥

Transliteration:

One who maintains equipoise in both happiness and sufferings, one who does not get affected by gains or losses of worldly life… such a one who maintains equanimity in all circumstances of life has finally reached stage of an enlightened one (kaivalya jnani) forever! Firmly established in God… such a true seeker of spirituality always invoked positive thoughts all the time!

One whose doubts relating to God Almighty settled forever, one who established control over mind power finally becomes absolute knower of God Almighty! For an enlightened one… other than God Almighty nothing existed in entire cosmos. One realized subtle cosmic truths of life only after reaching stage of an enlightened one… not before!

For an enlightened one, one who had come face-to-face to God Almighty… nuances of physical manifest life carried no further meaning! God Almighty always was Nirakaar in form (having no form). When human beings succeeded in separating God Almighty from bondages of earthly manifest life (when we finally realized that God Almighty never was a physical being)… one truly becomes omniscient forever.

The Explanation:

Lord Krishna advises Arjuna that one must maintain composure in all circumstances of life! When in gain… a true seeker never rejoiced! When a loser… one still maintained inner calm! For a seeker of truth… gains and losses of physical manifest life meant the same. When we already know that physical possessions could never be carried to next life, manifestation by our soul atman, the spirit within… why not indulge in Punya Karma that got transferred to next life!

In cosmic crux of life… laws of karma were all the time dominating, effective! Indulging in nishkama karma yoga… a true seeker of spirituality finally reached God! An enlightened one is called sthir buddhi for the prime reason that one had established absolute control over mind power! Through path of self enquiry (Neti… not this, not this) when all queries within one come to naught… one finally becomes omniscient for all practical purposes! For an enlightened one… there was nothing more to be known relating to God Almighty!

Identification of body with true inner self… our soul atman, the spirit within was the biggest hurdle for a serious seeker of spirituality! Those who believed in religion, followers of rituals always identified God with their personal self! Such travelers of religious path always worshipped God in Sakaar form (having a form). For them to worship God in Nirakaar form (having no form) was just impossible. God was not the form of human beings as believed by most. God Almighty is a cluster of pure primordial cosmic energy… beyond comprehension of most human beings!

When human beings succeeded in dissolving their ego forever… one finally realized what God Almighty was all about! The glory of God Almighty can only be realized by a truthful seeker of spirituality, one who travelled path of absolute truthfulness always and ever! Most human beings world over, indulging in physical possessions erred most of time. Such human beings can never be expected to reach God in their lifetime. The importance of being truthful in life is paramount on path of pure spirituality, something most human beings world over underestimated!

One who believed that God existed in all living beings in miniscule form as our soul atman, the consciousness within finally realized oneness of life as ordained by God Almighty! Such a truthful seeker of spirituality after cutting across all shackles of karma (negating karma to zero) finally reached stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (stage of absolute nothingness) when one could remain in communion with God Almighty every second of life.

Establishing control over five senses and mind was really difficult… more so for followers of religious path! Those who believed that in present scientific age… in present Kali Yuga, Dark Age… metal age one could reach God Almighty via path of bhakti yoga alone were mistaken. As total submission to God Almighty in present times was totally ruled out… one had to follow path of jnana yoga, nishkama karma yoga to reach God in present life time! Lucky are those who could duplicate efforts of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa or Maharishi Ramana… the true spiritual stalwarts who succeeded in reaching God in their lifetime.

Reaching God was not difficult… difficulty lay only in following the path! Remaining truthful all the time, establishing absolute control over five senses and mind, following path of jnana yoga (absolute wisdom) any human being world over can reach God.

In the battlefield of Mahabharata, Lord Krishna advises Arjuna not to attach self to material possessions of worldly life! All relationships of manifest world relate to earthly possessions! Remaining detached from bondages of earthly life, Lord Krishna advised Arjuna to fight battle of Dharma (righteousness) to counter evil forces of adharma (lawlessness) and re-establish Dharma (righteousness) so that his countrymen could live with peace.
